I was just taking an optical stroll through the amazing archive that is Codex 99 (go to www.codex99.com to check out this palatial smorgasbord of visual delights.) It was there that I became re-acquainted with the work of Mike Wilks. I remember poring over The Ultimate Alphabet back in college, in the late '80's. I remember taking this book out of the library and diving into Wilks' rich tableaux - each illustrating a single letter of the alphabet. We all have these memories, these moments that sometimes re-surface. We also possess ones that don't, delicacies that are lost to recall.
